Instructions For Using SmartVault
Uploading Your Documents
- Go to smartvault.com
- Click “Login” located at the top right of the page
- Sign in with the email address that you were invited with and the password you set up during
activation If you have forgotten your password select “Can’t sign in?” to have a reset email sent. - Click “View Your Documents” or “View Files and Folders”.
- Click on the name or the account that you want to view.
- Select a year for your documents.
- Click “Client Source Documents”.
- Click “Upload file”.
- Find the document that you want to upload from your device.
- Click “Save”.
- Smart Vault will automatically message your tax preparer to let them know that your documents are available for tax preparation.
Viewing or Downloading Tax Returns
- Go to smartvault.com
- Click “Login” located at the top right of the page
- Sign in with the email address that you were invited with and the password you set up during

- Click on the name or account that you want to view.
- Choose the tax year.
- Click “Client Tax Returns”.
- Choose the tax return.
- Click “Download”.
